Arqiva has deployed two HD trucks to upgrade Sky Sports’ coverage of international speedway. The trucks have been deployed at two key events in the speedway calendar, the UK Speedway Grand Prix in Cardiff and the UK Speedway World Cup in Coventry.
Coverage of the events involves a 65-strong Arqiva crew and 27 HD cameras including seven radio cameras for live interviews. This is the ninth year of Arqiva’s coverage of the sport.
“The decision to upgrade key speedway events to High Definition has been driven by demand from Eastern European countries where the sport is particularly popular and where HD technology is increasingly available,” said Darren Long, Head of Sky Sports Operations.
Poland is a particular battleground for speedway rights with TVP, Polsat and Canal+ all vying for coverage.
