Thematic channels are starting to make their presence increasingly felt in the Polish TV marketplace.
According to data produced by TNS OBOP, all three national broadcasters – TVP, Polsat and TVN – posted lower viewing figures in July than in the same month in 2007, while at the same time most of the leading thematic channels gained viewers.
News-based TVN 24, the most successful, claimed a 4.13% share (3.53% in 2007) among those aged 4+ and 2.19% (1.72%) in the 16-49-age group. Disney Channel (1.12% last month) was the next most popular in the 4+ group and Viva Polska (1.52%) among those aged 16-49.
Overall, TVP1 still scored the most viewers (21.49%) in the former group and Polsat (18.45%) in the latter.
