When Nickelodeon Arabia goes on air at 6.00 am (local time) tomorrow the station will become the 50th global channel to be launched by the network. The Arabic language channel will broadcast free-to-air from Arabsat and Nilesat satellite reaching a potential audience of 190 million viewers.
Nickelodeon Arabia is planning a slate of original productions to ensure it remains relevant to the market. These include Shoof Kids, with a seven year old host who will introduce videos sent in by the young audience, and the Friday afternoon interactive block Jumetna hosted Rani and Asalah. International favourites Dora The Explorer, SpongeBob SquarePants and Jimmy Neutron will also appear on the channel that will target 2 to 14 year olds.
The channel will be supported by a dedicated website in English and Arabic.
So far this year Nickelodeon has launched eight localised channels.
