Cable operators still play only minor role in the provision of broadband internet access in Bulgaria.
According to a local report, data provided by an organisation named ICT Cluster shows that cable companies provide services to 91,000 homes, while the incumbent telco BTC has 162,000 broadband internet customers and LAN operators 320,000, or 50% of the market.
The regulator CRC puts the latter’s market share at an even higher 56%.
Sofia is served by 120 ISPs and has by far the highest broadband internet penetration in Bulgaria.
