Unitymedia reaches 1 million digital homes

Unitymedia has reached the milestone of over 1 million digital households in the states of Northrhine-Westphalia and Hesse, the company announced today. About 40% of all single households now subscribe to digital services. This is due to the success of the “Jetzt digital” campaign, according to CEO Parm Sandhu.

From July 1, the campaign will concentrate on the housing associations and community housing estates. In many cases, cable operators in Germany do not have direct access to homes in multiple dwelling estates.

However, Unitymedia says this is not the case with them, they operator has managed to overcome this historical fragmentation in the German cable markets by integrating the once separated net levels (hence the name Unitymedia) The company says it now reaches full direct customer access for digital TV and broadband is available to over 90 per cent of its homes reached.
