Hong Kong-based TVB has chosen Eutelsat’s Eurobird 9 satellite for the distribution of a new package of five Cantonese language channels into Europe.
The package, handled by TVB subsidiary The Chinese Channel, comprises the flagship TVBS-Europe, a mix of Hong Kong produced dramas, local news and Chinese community events in Europe; 24-hour news channel TVBN; TVB Entertainment News; TVB Classic and TVB Lifestyle.
Anthony Ho, controller of the overseas satellite division of TVB expressed his thanks to Eutelsat for what he described as an exceptional level of support ” To achieve our milestones, Eutelsat provided considerable technical assistance and advice to TVB, enabling the five channels to be on air in less than three months.”
The Chinese Channel is targeting the half million Cantonese speakers within the Eurobird 9 footprint. The channels are being turned around by Eutelsat’s Skylogic affiliate from its teleport in Turin.
