UPC Romania has no intention of applying for a mobile telephony licence, according to its CEO Jack Mikaloff.
He was quoted in the local press, which reports that a new mobile licence will be awarded in Romania on September 8.
Significantly, several companies including existing mobile operators and RCS/RDS, UPC Romania’s main competitor, will be forbidden from applying for the licence. The incumbent telco Romtelecom, also another competitor, will nevertheless be allowed to bid if it so wishes.
