BBC World News is repositioning itself as trimedia news service, covering TV, online and mobile, following its rebranding from BBC World earlier this year.
The channel says it is looking to deliver more live news programming across a broader news agenda. It will also focus on providing more in-depth news and debate, plus global and regional news, business and sports programming.
Included is a new edition of World News Today, which continues to extend its reach across the schedule. The new 13.00GMT edition will be presented by Mishal Husain and target the East Asia evening-peak audiences. It will join editions presented by George Alagiah, Zeinab Badawi and Nik Gowing (pictured).
Feature programming will continue in the form of Hardtalk, Click, Fastrack and The World Debate.
BBC World News, which rebranded from BBC World earlier this year, has full time distribution in 87 million households. The BBC’s international-facing website, bbc.com, is now attracting 29 million unique users per month (eight million from Europe), with 50% visiting the news pages.
