High definition and timeshift TV services are being launched by the Vienna-based IPTV operator aonTV. aonTV HD-Videothek will carry a mix of blockbuster movies, documentaries and music videos. In addition to the high quality pictures, aon is also highlighting the accompanying Dolby 5.1 surround sound.
The recently launched ORF HD will also be made available including coverage of the Euro 2008 football tournament being held in the country next month.
Access to the combined Zusatzpaket HD Videothek is being priced at a monthly €4.90 on top of the regular €34.90 subscription fee.
Timeshift TV (Zeitversetzt TV) is being made available at no extra charge and is available on 11 channels including RTL, Pro 7, Sat 1, RTL 2, Super RTL, VOX, N-TV, 9live and Pulse 4. Viewers will be able to replay content from the previous 90 minutes broadcast.
aonTV currently has 45,000 subscribers and says it is adding a further 1,000 every week. The service is available to 52% of Austrian households.
