Cablecom enjoys digital radio times

Swiss cablenet Cablecom is giving a significant boost to its portfolio of digital radio stations. 60 new stations are being added to the line-up including broadcasters from Germany, Austria, France and Italy.

The cablenet is making much of the availability of the BBC Radio channels, including the national pop network Radio 1, describing the UK as the cradle of pop music.

With all of the BBC’s national networks available on the Astra satellite at 28 degrees East, Cablecom is taking advantage of Swiss copyright law that allows the relay of any free-to-air transmission. Around one dozen UK stations are being included in the package.

Two analogue stations are being introduced specifically for the forthcoming Euro 2008 football competition.

Combined with the 30 Music Choice pay audio channels, Cablecom subscribers can tune to around 100 radio channels.
