The leading Bulgarian cable operator CableTel plans to launch four HDTV channels by the end of this month.
Local reports say the services in question are Discovery Channel, National Geographic, Eurosport and Premium Digital and that they will initially be available in 16 cities, with viewers who wish to receive them required to pay an additional BGN19.90 (€10.19) a month.
They also say that a further six HD channels will be added to its offer by the end of the year.
Separately, CableTel has announced that it will not be expanding its operations to Azerbaijan and will instead focus its efforts outside Bulgaria in Serbia and Albania.
