Dutch incumbent KPN is beefing up its IPTV offer KPN Interactieve TV. The number of channels has been extended to include 53 in the basic tier and a further 41 in the so-called ‘Planet Plus” package. In addition, there are up to four live football channels from Tele2 Voetbal and two gay channels, bringing the total to 100 channels.
KPN has also started to give away free subscriptions for Digitenne (the Dutch DTT service) for second and third TV sets in combination with KPN Interactieve TV susbcriptions. This might signal the introduction of a hybrid set-top, which would bring together IPTV and DTT in the same box. Similar schemes are already available in Italy (Tiscali TV), Spain (Orange TV with a special version of the Livebox) and BT Vision in the UK.
