The German online on-demand portal Maxdome has said it now offers Warner movie titles at the same time as their DVD release. This follows successful trial of day & date VOD releases on platforms in the Benelux and Scandinavia.
On Maxdome viewers can watch movies, TV series and concerts via their DSL connection on their PC or connect their broadband connection to their regular TV set using a special set-top box.
In the Benelux, operators such as UPC and Telenet said they were very successful with day & date titles. At UPC, buy rates for blockbusters went up threefold.
