According to the latest monthly report from Impulsa TDT (the non-profit organisation which promotes the implementation of DTT in Spain), a total of 1,412,000 DTT households were added in the first quarter of this year. As a result, the penetration rate is now 31.85%, or more than 5 million households.
The pace of digital box sales continues unabated and the overall number has surpassed 9.7 million units. According to consultancy GfK, sales of DTT tuners in 2008 will grow by 45%, compared to 2007, which means that the receiver base at the end of the year could total 15 million.
The Spanish DTT network now reaches 85.38% of the population, or over 38 million people.
