Poland has enacted controversial legislation pertaining to the funding of the public broadcaster TVP.
Under it, disadvantaged sections of the community such as pensioners and the unemployed will no longer be required to buy receiver licence fees.
The Polish government, which is lead by the Platforma Obywatelska (Civic Platform) party, has been accused by the opposition of trying to undermine public broadcasting, and the move could see TVP and its radio counterpart lose a combined total of up to PLN300 million (€89.1 million) a year in revenues.
