Zon Multimedia revealed a strong set of results as the Portuguese cablenet reported a new consecutive record quarter in terms of RGU additions. 101,900 new products were added by customers in Q1 2008, compared with 57,000 in Q1 2007 and 94,600 in Q4 2007.
As of March 31, 2008, the total number of RGUs stood at 2.5 million, representing 1.61 RGUs per pay-TV customer.
The company says the results are particularly significant because of the historically weaker sales in the first quarter.
Pay-TV customers grew by 13,400 to 1,561 million, while a further 15,700 broadband customers were adding, bringing the total to 416,000 and representing 26.7% penetration of the total pay-TV customer base.
Blended ARPU grew by 3.7% to €31.6 per subscriber in Q1 2008 compared to €30.4 in Q1 2007.
Operating Revenues increased to €188.1 million, representing year-on-year growth of 8.9%. EBITDA increased to €58.9m from €54.1m.
