Jalipo sold to ROK Entertainent

Over the Top TV provider Jalipo has been sold to the ROK Entertainment Group for 600,000 ordinary shares – a valuation of $16.8 million (€10.82) based on ROK’s current share price.

“This acquisition is of great strategic importance to ROK,” commented Laurence Alexander, CEO of ROK, “as it furthers our presence in the mobile TV market. There are significant synergies between Jalipo’s product offering and our own, which we look forward to incorporating within and, as a result, enhancing, ROK’s delivery portfolio.”

ROK has previously concentrated on the delivery of mobile content and says it has filed more than 40 international patents.

London-based Jalipo launched its online marketplace a year ago with a mix of live and on demand content. Credits can be purchased that will be used to view the selected content. Channel partners include BBC Worldwide, Euronews, Al Jazeera English, Bloomberg, France 24 (in French, English and Arabic), Rotana Europe, Deutsche Welle, Luxe , Mezzo and TeleSur.
