Swiss cable operators have to work hard to maintain their lead as the distribution medium of choice for television. Whilst they hold 92% of all TV viewers in the country, the percentage of digital viewers is only 44%.

RTL works with MonteVerdi on classical music channel
RTL Nederland will work with the fledgling online platform for classical music MonteVerdi on developing a thematic music channel. Every Sunday RTL8 will broadcast a branded block of classical music to gauge interest amongst viewers.
Dutch pubcasters to launch HD simulcasts
In early 2009 the Dutch public broadcasters will launch HD versions of their three main channels, Nederland 1, 2 and 3. In preparation for this move, a special HD version of Nederland 1 will be distributed via cable during the Olympic Games and the Euro 2008 Football championship.
Swingewood joins General Entertainment Corp
The game of pro-celebrity bingo continues at General Entertainment & Technology Corporation, the company that owns Static2358, PlayJam and Electra Entertainment. The latest name to be associated with the company is former director of new media and broadcast divisions at BT and BSkyB, John Swingewood has been appointed as a strategic adviser.
ARD and ZDF come to Zattoo
The German public broadcasters ARD and ZDF have made their channels available to the online TV platform Zattoo. With the addition of all national, regional and thematic channels, the German version of Zattoo now has 24 more channels and offers a total of 46.
