The Hungarian National Communications Authority (NHH) says that it has received a total of four bids for the DVB-T and T-DAB licences it is advertising.
The national transmission company Antenna Húngaria, which is backed by Swisscom, has applied for both a DVB-T and T-DAB licence, while Digital Broadcasting and Magyar Radio have bid for a DVB-T and T-DAB licence respectively. All told, a total of nine companies purchased the two separate tender invitations.
Significantly, it has been reported that Digital Broadcasting is majority owned by Slovakia’s TRI R, which is partnered by the Czech company Trade and Technology. Both have a strong presence in their respective domestic markets, the latter through the DTH platform CS Link, which has over 400,000 subscribers.
The NHH says it will decide which of the bids are valid within 15 days. A final winner will be announced in early summer.
