Deutsche Telekom is to commence the commercial rollout of satellite-based two-way broadband in Germany following an agreement with SES Astra.
Telekom will market the ASTRA2Commect service that it has already piloted in two communities in Rhineland-Palatinate without terrestrial broadband access.
“The agreement with Deutsche Telekom accelerates the distribution of ASTRA2Connect in Germany, one of Europe’s key markets,” said Alexander Oudendijk, chief commercial officer, SES Astra.
Since it launched in April 2007, distribution contracts have been closed in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Ireland, France, Italy, and Poland with four distribution partners in Germany alone.
