Multimedia start for BBC Arabic TV
The BBC has given launch details for the new BBC Arabic Television service. Confirming the March 11 launch date, the publicly funded channel will begin with a 12 hour a day schedule, extending to 24 hours a day by the summer.

Belgian telecom regulator threatens Flemish ASO
The Belgian national telecom regulator BIPT has asked the Supreme Court to declare the Flemish analogue switch-off plan null and void. The plan is to switch off all analogue broadcasts to make way for more DTT multiplexes in the country.

The board of directors at Canal+ SA have approved the pay-TV giant’s end of year accounts. The Paris-based operation closed 2007 with 5.3 million subscribers in France, its overseas territories and Africa, representing a net increase of 80,000.
