In a joint venture with the show’s creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, Comedy Central is making available all 171 episodes of the famous cartoon series South Park as free to view streams on the web.
No downloads are possible, but about 3,000 clips are available to embed in personal websites. Each full episode will have three commercials. All 12 seasons of the series are now available, in beta, on the southparkstudios.com website.
Parker and Stone agreed to financially back the site as part of a deal with Comedy Central to produce three more seasons of the show. “Three more years of South Park will give us the opportunity to offend that many more people,” Stone wrote in a prepared statement. “And since Trey and I are in charge of the digital side of South Park, we can offend people on their cellphones, game consoles, and computers too. It’s all very exciting for us.”
Last year Comedy Central put the entire archive of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart online.
