The Russian children’s channel 2×2 has been forced to take two programmes off the air by the Federal Culture and Cinematography Agency. According to a local report, the cartoons in question – both foreign productions – promote a “cult of violence and brutality.” 2×2 is owned by Prof Media, whose other interests include MTV Russia and VH1 Russia, stands to lose its licence for a second transgression of this nature.
