Chorus-NTL, the consumer facing brands of UPC Ireland, is to upgrade its broadband service. While the new residential top speed of 12 Mbps at a cost of €40 per month may seem lacking by some European standards, it is double the rate previously available on the cablenet.
The new speeds are being rolled out to new broadband customers in Dublin, Galway, Waterford, Limerick and Cork from April. Customers on the current 6 Mbps and 12 Mbps tiers will be upgraded from June at no extra cost.
The upgrade makes UPC the first large scale broadband provider in Ireland to offer a 12 Mbps service.
