Cross platform availability of Norway’s leading channels has come a step further after Viasat reached an agreement with quasi-commercial broadcaster TV2 for the carriage of its channels on the DTH platform.
TV2 will be made available to all Viasat subscribers from March 3, 2008, while the TV2 news and movie channels will be included by April 1, 2008, in the basic and movie packages respectively.
The agreement follows the signature of a similar deal with rival platform Canal Digital after a tense period of negotiations when the terrestrial broadcaster threatened to abandon satellite transmissions altogether.
TV2 previously held an exclusive DTH distribution deal with Canal Digital.
