BT Vision more than doubled subscriber numbers in the last quarter with 120,000 households connected to the IPTV service at the end of 2007. In a statement issued to accompany the telco’s 3rd quarter financials, the company said that subscriber numbers had now reached 150,000, in line with expectations.
BT reiterated earlier announcements covering deals with Paramount, adding a library of 150 new films, and with Disney for the screening of series including Lost and Desperate Housewives.
The telco’s Openreach division Openreach has announced plans to install fibre optic cable instead of traditional copper to connect houses on a 1,000-acre new-build project at Ebbsfleet Valley in Kent. From August these households will be able to receive broadband speeds of up to 100 Mbps, allowing simultaneous HDTV and HD gaming, and near instantaneous music downloads.
