Belgian commercial broadcaster VMMa and MTV Networks Belgium announced they have joined forces to roll out a Flemish version of Nick Jr. The new kids channels will broadcast both Flemish productions as well as international properties from MTV. The two parties will also look at pother opportunities in the youth market.VMMa is the largest commercial broadcaster in Flanders with three channels, VTM, Kanaaltwee (to be renamed Be2) and the youth oriented JimTV. The news to cooperate comes as a surprise, as the VMMa earlier developed plans to launch a Flemish version of Jetix in competition with MTV Networks’s Nickelodeon. Apparently, these plans have now been shelved. (See Broadband TV News)
