UPDATE: A new channel with a focus on well-being is to commence broadcasts on Eutelsat’s Eurobird 9 satellite (9 degrees East). Melody Zen will broadcast in what is being described as ‘Full HD’, though Eutelsat has confirmed transmissions will be in the more familiar 1080i format rather than the high-end 1080p, as well as a standard definition feed. The signal is being uplinked from the Eutelsat teleport in Rambouillet, near Paris.
The programming has water as a key element and will include a combination of landscapes, accompanied by zen music, sound of nature and relaxation methods. Three audio soundtracks offer pure natural sounds, MelodyZen Music and MelodyZen Well-being.
Melody Zen is the latest channel to take advantage of the new Eutelsat position at 9 degrees East. The satellite operator is promoting the close proximity to the well-established Hotbird neighbourhood at 13 degrees East with off the shelf ‘dual feed’ antennas already available.
Anchor tenants on Eurobird 9 include C-Music, B4U Music India, HD channel Luxe TV, Swedish international service SVT Europa and Portuguese pay platform TVTel.
