Proposed amendments to Poland’s broadcast legislation have reportedly been passed to the parliamentary commissions on culture and infrastructure for further work. This follows their rejection in the first reading in the Polish parliament (Sejm). The controversial amendments, which have been put forward by the ruling PO (Civic Platform) party, would see changes to the way senior management is appointed at TVP, ostensibly to de-politicise the public broadcaster, and greatly limit the powers of the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT).
