Just before Christmas Broadband TV News noted that the HDforAll website was no longer active. We made some enquiries, but were assured the group was still in business. A few weeks later the website reappeared, although the homepage now redirects to that of PR consultancy Babel, which ran the lobbying campaign for gifted HD capacity on behalf of the manufacturers and broadcasters.
HDforAll has largely achieved its objectives, Ofcom has presented a plan to secure HD on the DTT network, and by and large the broadcasters are satisfied. The double objective was to bring HD to consumers and sell more HD Ready, and Full HD, television displays.
Our thanks go largely to the House of Commons Culture, Media and Sport committee, which in its latest report refers to the (now defunct) “HDforAll” campaign. Loose ends considered tied.
