The number of cable Internet homes served by the four leading operators in Hungary – UPC, T-Kábel, Fibernet and DIGI – grew by 2.8% to 400,000 in November 2007, according to data produced by the country’s National Communications Authority (NHH). At the same time, the number of broadband ADSL homes rose by 1.2% to 730,000. In the latter case, the figure was compiled from data for the four telcos (Magyar Telekom, Invitel, Hungarotel and Monortel) with monopoly status in some parts of Hungary, along with that for the four leading alternative carriers (eTel, GTS Datanet, PanTel and Tele2).
