Golden Telecom is set to be bought by VimpelCom Finance and Lillian Acquisition, two subsidiaries of VimpelCom, for around $4.3 billion (€3.0 billion). A tender offer for the transaction will get under way on or before January 18 next year. Earlier this month it was reported that negotiations between Golden Telecom and VimpelCom about a possible takeover were under way. Golden Telecom is one of the leading alternative carriers in Russia, its interests including Corbina Telecom, which launched an IPTV service earlier this year. VimpelCom is one of Russia’s leading mobile companies.
