Jozef Mracna has been appointed the acting director of the Slovakian national public broadcaster STV. Formerly its technical director, he takes over from Radim Hreha, who was dismissed from the post earlier this month after only a year in office. Despite serious financial difficulties, STV is pressing ahead with the transition to digital broadcasting and is still expected to launch a third channel next summer ahead of the Beijing Olympics.
