The Czech IPTV platform O2 TV has announced that it now has 70,000 subscribers. Operated by the incumbent telco Telefónica O2, O2 TV made its debut in September 2006 and currently offers around 50 digital channels and a video rental service that offers some movies in 3D. It plans to introduce several HD channels next year. O2 TV faces competition from a small though growing number of services provided by alternative carriers including the Telekom Austria-backed Czech-on-Line, which operates under the brand name Volny.
