Canal+ has announced that it has reached agreement with USPA (l’Union syndicale de la Production Audiovisuelle) to clear the rights of their members’ for the use of audiovisual works in the catch-up TV service from the operator.
Canal+ will pay additional compensation on top of the broadcast rights for on-demand usage. All programmes will be available up to a month after the original airing, with a maximum of three screenings. The contract with the rights holders clears the way for the premium broadcaster to experiment with the new service, which was launched last week.
