France 24 is celebrating its first anniversary with the introduction of a new mobile on demand news service and the extension of its Arabic service to a full 24-hours. Depending on the handset model, it will be able to access video and/or audio content in three languages, French, English and Arabic, throughout the day. Internet users are also being invited to post their own video, text or photos onto a dedicated site known as The Observers. Editorial staff will check the material before publication.
The extended Arabic service commences today (December 6) and reflects France 24’s aim to give equal prominence to its different language services and its intention to “strengthen its presence in regions where the majority of the population speaks Arabic as their first or only language”.
