NDS has announced that DirecTV has renewed its conditional access contract with DirecTV US and DirecTV Latin America through until June 2013. It is unusual for such detail to be given on a contract, but given that DirecTV is the largest pay-TV operator in the world it is perhaps not too surprising.
In a statement Raffi Kesten, NDS Chief Operating Officer, paid tribute to DirecTV’s role in the pay-TV industry. DirecTV has been highly innovative in developing its consumer offerings to provide the best range of television services available in the United States and across much of Latin America.” He said the company was proud to be able to extend the CA contract.
The DirecTV relationship is key for NDS, given the billion dollar investment in the DTH platform made by News Corp, the parent company of both operations. It is often handled directly by NDS President Dr Abe Peled.
