For the second time in recent weeks UPC Austria has won a case against Telecom Austria concerning advertising of its products. The Austrian incumbent advertised pricing for its IPTV service Aon TV at just €4.90 a month, failing to mention the need to have basic telephony costing €15.98 monthly.
The minimum total costs are €20.88, and should customers buy Aon TV as a standalone product, the monthly subscription fee is €24.90. The court (Handelsgericht Wien) has decided that Telecom Austria can no longer just advertise the €4.90 pricepoint.
Two weeks ago UPC sought and won a similar judgment with Telecom Austria’s campaign for it ‘Speed easy’ broadband product, which also failed to mention basic subscription costs.
