Channel 4 has appointed Jon Gisby to the new role of director of new media and technology. Gisby, who takes up his position next month, was until recently vice president of media and communications for Yahoo! Europe and is a former senior advisor within the BBC’s corporate strategy unit. He will report to Channel 4 chief executive Andy Duncan and joins the Channel 4 board and its executive management team.
Gisby’s appointment comes as part of a reorganisation at Channel 4. He takes control of the New Media division, previously a part of New Business, though Channel Operations will continue to report to group finance director Anne Bulford. The broadcaster recently announced plans to outsource its transmission, engineering and post production to Red Bee Media.
