The French media authority Conseil supérieur de l’audiovisuel (CSA) has opened up the licence process for five regional commercial broadcasters in the cities of Brest, Saint-Etienne, Strasbourg, Nice and Menton (applications can be submitted for the two cities, as for the individual cities) and Montluçon. Applications should be in by February 15, 2008. In the coming months the CSA expects to publish further local licences.
Last week, the CSA also opened up a tender for 13 mobile TV licences. These will be issued for a period of 10 years and can be renewed for another five years. The deadline for application is January 15, 2008. There is no requirement for a fixed launch date of the new services.
