Details have begun to emerge of an agreement signed by the Polish public broadcaster TVP, its radio counterpart Polskie Radio and the mobile company Polkomtel earlier this autumn. Local reports indicate that the three parties plan to launch a DTT platform using Polkomtel’s infrastructure rather than that of TP Emitel’s. TP Emitel is a wholly owned subsidiary of the France Telecom-backed incumbent TPSA and has been undertaking DTT trials for several years. However, much will depend on the incoming PO (Civic Platform) government, which besides enacting new media legislation favours changes at the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) and to the senior management of both TVP and Polkomtel.
