Dutch incumbent telecom operator KPN said today that it had enjoyed the fastest ever growth in new TV customers during Q3, 2007. The company added 77,000 new homes during the quarter ending September 30.
KPN now has a total of 414,000 TV customers, which it claims represents 17% of all digital homes in The Netherlands. The figures combines both the DTT service Digitenne as well as the IPTV service KPN Interactive TV. It is estimated about 10,000 subscribe to IPTV.
KPN said the fast growth was mainly driven by its aggressive pricing policy, charging €6.95 a month for its basic DTT service. IPTV starts at €9.95 a month. About 10% of the Digitenne subscribers also take the live Dutch football option available at €6 monthly.
