Kabel Deutschland’s plans to upgrade the Berlin cable network will begin to come to fruition next week. Berlin, despite being the first area in the country to switch to DTT, has lagged behind in terms of the capabilities of its cable network. From the beginning of December this will change, as KDG upgrades the network to offer a full triple play service of television, telephony and broadband internet, previously only available in parts of the capital.
KDG has said there will be some disruption to service between October 22 and November 30, 2007 as the operator shuffles around broadcasters so that channels K02 to K04 can be used for the return path. Viewers will also have to retune their receivers to the new channel allocations.
