Personal Video Recorders can increase viewing time in some demographic groups, according to a new report from Attentional. Adults aged 16-34 with the Sky+ box watch slightly more television between 21.00 and 22.00 than their peers in Sky homes that do not have the technology.
Entertainment Channels, such as Sky One, are likely to experience greater levels of recording and playback, while music and sport continue to be watched live.
Attentional, the former David Graham & Associates, found that drama received the highest amount of playback. The organisation used its Microgenre coding system, establishing that one third of all drama viewing by Sky+ users was in playback with soaps attracting a higher proportion of live viewing than series or serials.
