Korea Telecom (KT), Korea’s incumbent telecom operator, and Sony Computer Entertainment Korea (SCEK) will launch an Internet-based TV service in November that runs on the PlayStation 3 game console. The console will act as a set-top box for KT’s IPTV service, named Mega TV.
At the moment there are two IPTV providers in the country, KT and Hanaro Telecom. Due to local broadcasting legislation, bith companies can only offer on-demand programming and no streaming of broadcast channels.
