The Dutch police department of the province of Limburg in the Southeastern part of the country today launched its own Internet TV channel called PIT – Politie Internet TV (www.pit.tv). The new channel is not intended to compete with regular television news channels, but want to bring news items that don’t make it to regular news casts as well as give tips to the public and ask for assistance with unsolved cases.
The channel will show a daily news bulletin, produced by the communications department of the police in Limburg. “We do not want to compete with normal television,” said a spokesperson for the police, “but you can see this as a modern version of our press releases.”
