The French alternative telco Neuf Cegetel has selected Ericsson and its Redback subsidiary for its next generation fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) aggregation network for both residential and business services. The vendors will deploy and maintain Redback SmartEdge 1200 multi-service edge routers to aggregate optical access nodes into a high speed, 10 Gbps metro Ethernet network.
“Building a nationwide fibre network across France will allow Neuf Cegetel to introduce a new set of high-bandwidth communications services for both consumers and businesses”, said Pierre Alain Allemand, general manager of the Network Division at Neuf Cegetel.
Neuf Cegetel currently offers broadband over ADSL to more than three million broadband subscribers and 150,000 corporate sites.
