IBC 2007 – AMSTERDAM. UPC Austria will introduce HD services on its network in Austria as part of the switch over from analogue to digital. The operator plans to switch to digital only in the future. At present digital switch-off of DTT is in full swing and DTH already digital-only.
In addition to its HD plans, UPC Austria will also offer VOD services and a PVR. UPC is currently busy converting its Dutch customers to digita, with now over 550,000 homes connected (out of the approximately 2.2 million homes served). Although UPC Austria has not yet released any pricing details, it is likely that like the Dutch operations it will rent out the cable tuners and PVRs as part of the monthly subscription.
