What’s the value of a single episode of a TV series that is available free-to-air? Apple thinks these should cost 99 cents rather than the $1.99 currently charged, according to a report in Variety.
Apple has argued that the price cut will dramatically increase sales, offsetting the decline in revenue from each individual sale. But network and studio representatives are skeptical of the proposal. They are, however, willing to look into differentiating prices of library and new titles.
The news follows a recent decision by NBC to withdraw their titles from the iTunes store – according to unconfirmed reports the network was looking into actually upping the price of individual episodes.
