The French media authority Conseil supérieur de l’audiovisuel (CSA) has reorganised the DTT multiplexes in order to make room for 18 local broadcasters as well as a second regional version of France 3 in certain areas. The 18 local stations are already available on analogue terrestrial frequencies. In addition, France Ô, a channel aimed at overseas territories, will also be available in Ile-de-France, the area around Paris.
The addition of the new channels is made possible by reorganising the multiplex carrying France 4, TMC and TPS Star. The new situation takes effect on Thursday, September 13 at 0600 CET. It will also be possible to acomodate new regional and local broadcasters in the future. The CSA has invited potential candidates for these channels. Before the end of the year, the CSA will decide which applicants for the regional frequencies in Ile-de-France will receive a license.
